Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has been named in Uzbekistan's 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Khusanov, who made history as the first Uzbek player in the Premier League, joined City from Lens in January 2025. The 22-year-old has already impressed with 47 appearances, contributing to City's FA Cup and Carabao Cup victories last season. Uzbekistan, making their World Cup debut, will be led by Italy's 2006 World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro. Eldor Shomurodov, who played on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir from Roma last season, will captain the team. Uzbekistan's Group K fixtures are against Colombia, Portugal, and DR Congo, starting with their opener against Colombia on June 18.
