Atletico Madrid forward Alex Baena has weighed in on the speculation surrounding Julian Alvarez's potential transfer to Barcelona. Reports have surfaced about the Argentine striker's interest in leaving Atletico, with Alvarez himself having reportedly requested to be put on the transfer list. When asked about the situation, Baena made his stance clear: "I wouldn't sell any teammates. As far as the club is concerned, I'd never sell our players to a direct competitor. The Premier League? No, my opinion is that he should stay. I'd chain him up, but if he wants to fulfill his dream, what can we do?" Baena's comments suggest a strong desire to retain Alvarez, who joined Atletico in the summer of 2024. Last season, Alvarez played 49 matches across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists. His current contract with Atletico runs until the summer of 2030.
