Chelsea's Malo Gusto is set to join Manchester City as uncertainty looms over his future at Chelsea following the signing of Marco Palestra. Gusto aims to reunite with Enzo Maresca, who is expected to be the new City manager.
Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto has been linked with a potential transfer to Manchester City, with increasing uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge. This development follows Chelsea's agreement to sign Marco Palestra from Atalanta, a move that was reportedly pushed by manager Xabi Alonso. According to Footmercato, Gusto is now ready to make the move to City, and the club's hierarchy has received the go-ahead to commence negotiations with Chelsea.
The move would reunite Gusto with Enzo Maresca, who is anticipated to take over as the new manager of Manchester City. Gusto and Maresca are said to have maintained a positive relationship during their time together at Chelsea, and Maresca is eager to integrate the former Lyon full-back into his plans at City. Manchester City has long been interested in Gusto, with former manager Pep Guardiola previously expressing a desire to bring him in as part of a squad rebuild.

Chelsea has set a £75 million price tag on the France international, reflecting his contractual commitment of four more years with the club. City is keen on reinforcing their right-back position to foster competition with Mateus Nunes, who played as a right-back last season despite being a midfielder by trade. Nunes impressed in this role, contributing to City's triumphs in the FA Cup and the Football League Cup. Gusto, a natural right-back, is expected to provide significant competition for Nunes, supported by his strong rapport with Maresca.
Currently, Gusto is with the French national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he has made two appearances and is providing cover for Jules Kounde.
