FIFA has revoked Jorge Vera's World Cup accreditation due to his outburst over Miguel Almiron's red card.
FIFA has decided to revoke the accreditation of Paraguayan commentator Jorge Vera after his emotional response to the sending-off of Miguel Almiron, according to Ole. The incident occurred during Paraguay's 1-0 victory over Turkey in the second round of the World Cup 2026. Referee Ivan Barton dismissed Almiron at the end of the first half for addressing opponent Mert Muldur with a hand covering his mouth, a new rule implemented before the World Cup.

Jorge Vera's on-air remarks were intense, labeling Barton and FIFA as 'thieves' and accusing them of ruining football. He also called out FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez, urging action against the decision. Vera later apologized, but ABC network has since removed him from all World Cup-related broadcasts.
