Julian Alvarez, the forward for Atletico Madrid, has expressed his frustration with the club's general director, Miguel Angel Gil, over what he perceives as broken promises regarding a transfer. According to journalist Reshad Rahman, Alvarez believes Gil has not upheld an earlier promise to facilitate his departure during the summer transfer window. Despite a recent conversation on Sunday between the two, Alvarez's stance has not changed, as he feels misled by Gil. The Argentine striker has previously voiced his desire to leave Atletico, stating that a transfer would be the best decision for his career. Currently, Alvarez's contract with the Madrid club extends until 2029. Last season, the 26-year-old played 52 matches across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists. Barcelona has emerged as a leading contender for his signature, having already made attempts to negotiate a transfer. Alvarez is currently with the Argentina national team at the 2026 World Cup, preparing for a match against Jordan.
