Sam Kerr has rejoined Gotham FC as a free agent after leaving Chelsea, where she enjoyed significant success. The deal will keep her at Gotham until 2030, marking her return to the club where she previously scored 28 goals.
Sam Kerr has rejoined National Women's Soccer League side Gotham FC as a free agent following the end of her successful stint with Chelsea. Kerr left Stamford Bridge upon the expiry of her contract and has opted to rejoin the team she played for between 2015 and 2017, scoring 28 goals when they were known as Sky Blue FC. The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal that will run until 2030. Kerr has been a huge part of Chelsea's recent success, which has included a run of six straight Women's Super League titles. She made 93 appearances in the WSL, scoring 65 goals, placing her seventh on the all-time scoring list, while also providing 22 assists.
The Australia international has already had huge success in the NWSL, winning the division's MVP award twice as well as being a three-time Golden Boot winner. "I'm incredibly excited to return to Gotham FC and to this city," Kerr said. "This club was an important part of my journey, and to come back at this moment, with everything Gotham has built, is really special. The ambition here is clear, and I'm looking forward to helping this team compete for trophies and create more history."

Kerr has registered 102 goal contributions (78 goals, 24 assists) in 124 NWSL appearances, but will have to wait to make her second debut for Gotham. She will be eligible to play after the NWSL's transfer window opens on July 14. Gotham takes on the Washington Spirit the following day.
"Sam is one of the defining players of her generation and a game-changing talent who has consistently delivered at the highest levels of world football," Gotham general manager Yael Averbuch West said. "Her winning mentality, relentless competitiveness, and ability to decide matches in an instant make her one of the most impactful players in the game. Bringing Sam back to Gotham is a landmark moment for our club, and we couldn't be more excited."
