Rafinha's Cousin Denies Rumors of Financial Troubles for the Winger
June 24, 2026 · Rebeca Salazar
Rafinha's cousin denied rumors regarding the winger's financial issues, which were mentioned by former player Vampeta.
Relatives of Barcelona midfielder Rafinha have firmly reacted to statements made by former Brazil international Vampeta. The 2002 World Cup champion suggested during an episode of the Red Cast podcast that the winger is facing serious family and financial difficulties, leading him to consider a transfer to Saudi club Al-Hilal to resolve his situation. Vampeta cited information from people close to Barcelona, although he acknowledged that these were unofficial rumors heard during the Club World Cup in 2025. "Rafinha has serious family problems in addition to financial issues. He is praying for a chance to move to Al-Hilal and is trying to cope with this situation. These are family matters. I received this information from people close to the situation at Barcelona. He hopes that signing with Al-Hilal will help him address these issues," said Vampeta, as reported by Goal referencing the Red Cast podcast.

Rafinha's family quickly refuted these claims. His cousin Igor Padilha publicly addressed Vampeta on social media, demanding accountability for the false information. "You will have to explain yourself for this lie, my friend," Padilha stated.
