
AEK Interested in Krasnodar Player Chernikov, Weighing Options with Barinov

AEK is weighing a transfer for Krasnodar midfielder Alexander Chernikov, choosing between him and CSKA's Dmitry Barinov.

Greek club AEK is exploring the option of signing Krasnodar midfielder Alexander Chernikov, in addition to CSKA's Dmitry Barinov. A source familiar with the situation informed "Championat" that head coach Marko Nikolich has approved the transfer of both players, with the club set to choose one. AEK is prepared to pay €7 million for Chernikov, a 26-year-old product of Krasnodar's academy. Last season, he made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists. According to Transfermarkt, Chernikov's contract with Krasnodar runs until the summer of 2029. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Barinov, a former Lokomotiv player, signed with CSKA in January 2026, also extending to the summer of 2029. In the past season, he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 39 matches.
