Barcelona Speeds Up Spotify Camp Nou Renovations
June 6, 2026 · Óscar Delgado
FC Barcelona accelerates renovations at Spotify Camp Nou following the end of the regular season, aiming to expand capacity and enhance facilities.
With the regular season concluded, FC Barcelona is taking advantage of the break to expedite renovations at Spotify Camp Nou. As players either enjoy their vacations or prepare with their national teams for the World Cup, the club has intensified construction efforts. The absence of matches allows for continuous work on the stadium, speeding up the renovation process both inside and outside.
Recently, the stadium surpassed phase 1C, which increased its capacity to 62,657 spectators. Currently, Barcelona is awaiting confirmation from the Ajuntament de Barcelona on future phases and how many additional seats can be added. The club's management, led by Joan Laporta, plans to gradually increase the stadium's capacity instead of waiting for the entire project to be completed.

The pace of work will depend on the permits received, which will determine how quickly the club can expand its capacity. Increasing the number of seats not only boosts revenue from regular and VIP seating but also enhances support for Hansi Flick's team, who achieved an impressive home record this season.
Barcelona has played this season across three venues: Johan Cruyff, Lluís Companys, and Spotify Camp Nou, with their home victories proving crucial in securing the La Liga title. Currently, about 3,000 workers are engaged in constructing two VIP rings and the third tier, a project expected to continue throughout next season. Completion of the 9,400 VIP seats is anticipated by summer 2027. The final phase, involving the construction of compression rings and the roof, will necessitate another relocation for fans at the beginning of the 2027-28 season.
