Canada's Path to World Cup Glory: Who's Next?

For the first time in history, Canada's men's national team has reached the round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup, following a narrow 1-0 victory over South Africa. Stephen Eustáquio was the hero, scoring the decisive goal two minutes into stoppage time, securing Canada's place in the knockout stage. As Les Rouges prepare for their next challenge, they await the winner of the Netherlands vs. Morocco clash, set to determine their round of 16 opponent.

Canada's upcoming match is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at Houston Stadium, with a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Should Canada emerge victorious against either the Netherlands or Morocco, they face a potential quarterfinal showdown with one of four formidable opponents: France, Germany, Sweden, or Paraguay. The quarterfinal would take place at Boston Stadium on July 9.

Beyond this, Canada's possible semifinals opponents include an array of strong teams: the USA, Portugal, Croatia, Spain, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Belgium, and Senegal. The semifinals are set for Dallas Stadium on July 14.

Unfortunately for Canadian fans, Les Rouges will not play any further matches on home soil. A loss to Switzerland in the final group stage game cost Canada the chance to host matches in Toronto or Vancouver. The round of 16 match remains the last World Cup game to be held in Canada for this tournament.
