Spain goalkeeper David Raya has expressed his feelings about being on the bench for the opening match of the 2026 World Cup against Cape Verde. Instead, Unai Simon will start in goal. "I know there will be mistakes, not everyone will love me, but I leave the debates to others. I always respect the coach's decision. Competition is good; I will always help, regardless of my role," Raya stated, as reported by The Guardian. In the 2025/2026 season, Raya won the Premier League Golden Glove for the third consecutive time and secured the English championship. The match between Spain and Saudi Arabia is scheduled for June 21 in Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, kicking off at 19:00 MSK.
