Erling Haaland is set to continue his journey at Manchester City for the foreseeable future, putting an end to swirling transfer rumors linking him to Real Madrid. The Norwegian forward, whose contract extends until 2034, has been at the center of speculation due to audacious claims from Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme. Riquelme alleged that Haaland had a release clause and was keen on joining the Spanish giants. However, these claims were quickly refuted by Haaland's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, and his father, Alfie Haaland, who dismissed them as baseless and entertaining. In response to these rumors, Manchester City has taken a firm stance, even threatening legal action against Riquelme for his unfounded assertions. Haaland's commitment to the club was cemented with a contract extension in January 2025, which sees him earning around £500,000 weekly. Despite the managerial change with Enzo Maresca replacing Pep Guardiola, City has consistently maintained that Haaland would not be leaving. According to Sam Lee of The Athletic, there are no indications of any imminent move away from the Etihad Stadium. This update aligns with the consistent position held by City and was further supported by Florentino Perez, the incumbent and election victor, who clarified that his summer transfer target is not a Premier League player. Last season, Haaland's remarkable tally of 38 goals and nine assists in 52 matches contributed to City's Carabao Cup and FA Cup triumphs. His record with the club stands at 162 goals in 198 appearances since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. As he enters the new season under Maresca, Haaland is poised to continue his legacy as one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers, reinforcing his place at the Etihad Stadium.
