Real Madrid have officially announced the return of Jose Mourinho as their head coach, marking a significant reunion with the Portuguese manager. Mourinho, 63, has signed a three-year contract and will commence his duties when the team gathers for pre-season training on July 13. To facilitate this move, Real Madrid paid Benfica a compensation of £13 million (€15 million). This decision comes 13 years after his initial tenure with the club ended. The club's president, Florentino Perez, who recently won the presidential re-election, had promised to bring Mourinho back if he was victorious. Perez secured 65% of the votes, defeating Enrique Riquelme. Mourinho had previously led Real Madrid to a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Spanish Super Cup during his first stint. Since then, he has managed several top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma, and others. His brief period with Benfica saw him guide the team to an unbeaten Liga Portugal season, although they finished third. With Real Madrid having gone two seasons without a trophy, Mourinho's return aims to revive the club's fortunes.
