June 5, 2026 · Raquel Morales
La Juventus sta considerando José Gimenez come possibile sostituto di Gleison Bremer, in caso di partenza di quest'ultimo. I contatti con l'Atletico Madrid sono già iniziati.
Juventus is actively exploring multiple avenues ahead of the next season. Among the discussions with Atletico Madrid, the club is also eyeing an experienced profile to strengthen its defense: José Gimenez. According to Tuttosport, the Uruguayan defender has re-entered Juventus' radar, particularly if Gleison Bremer's departure materializes. The Brazilian central defender remains one of the most sought-after players in the squad, and following the World Cup, he could attract significant offers.

Juventus' interest in Gimenez is not new. Back in 2017, when Leonardo Bonucci left Turin for AC Milan, the name of the Uruguayan defender was among those considered by the Juventus management to bolster the backline. Nearly ten years later, the club's admiration for the 1995-born player remains strong. Despite a season spent largely on the sidelines at Atletico Madrid, Gimenez is still regarded as a highly reliable defender on the international stage and a leader of the Uruguayan national team.
Juventus views him as a potential heir to Bremer. Gimenez's contract with Atletico Madrid runs until 2028, and his market valuation hovers around 15 million euros. This amount presents an intriguing opportunity for Juventus, especially if Bremer decides to leave Turin. The Brazilian has a release clause of 58.7 million euros valid until August 10 and remains one of the potential sacrifices in the market. In this context, Gimenez would provide the experience, personality, and international charisma that Juventus' management considers crucial for maintaining a high standard in defense.
