While Dalglish intended to keep this information private, it was accidentally disclosed via social media. Following this, both Dalglish and Liverpool confirmed his condition. Dalglish stated, "I am currently receiving cancer treatment. Unlike my skills with mobile phones, the treatment is progressing well. Ideally, this should have remained private, but my ineptitude with modern technology led to its disclosure. I did not wish for this to become public, so I would appreciate respect for my family's and my privacy," as quoted by the BBC.
