June 21, 2026 · Ricardo Romero
Kylian Mbappé discussed the world's top players before the match with Iraq at the 2026 World Cup, mentioning Messi and Ronaldo.
French striker Kylian Mbappé spoke ahead of his team's match against Iraq in the 2026 World Cup, highlighting forwards Lionel Messi from Argentina, Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal, and Erling Haaland from Norway. "Messi is the best player alongside Cristiano [Ronaldo], obviously. I’m just trying to help my team win another World Cup. The rest is up to the journalists. Right now, I’m not thinking about Haaland; maybe they are thinking about us, but I’m focused on Iraq," Mbappé told RMC Sport. The group stage will take place from June 11 to 27, with teams playing each other in a round-robin format (three matches each). The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.
