MK Dons have officially announced the signing of Charlie Goode, a central defender, from Stevenage on a free transfer. Goode, who is 30 years old, was out of contract at Stevenage at the season's end and chose to move after a two-year stint with the club. During the previous season, he made 45 appearances, helping Stevenage reach the League One play-offs. This transfer marks MK Dons' first signing since their promotion to the third tier in April. Goode's career has seen him play for several clubs, including Scunthorpe United, Northampton Town, and Brentford, where he played a part in their 2021 promotion to the Premier League. He also had spells on loan at Sheffield United, Blackpool, and Wigan. "There's lots of quality here at this club, which also has huge ambition, and that's something I really wanted to be a part of," Goode expressed on the MK Dons' website. Head coach Paul Warne commented on the signing, "This marks our first signing of the summer, a first of many, and it's great news to be welcoming Charlie to the club. I tried to sign him a few seasons ago; in the end it didn't happen, but I've spoken to him on many occasions – including after good results and congratulating him on the odd goal or performance – so it wasn't a difficult decision for me when I knew he was out of contract."
