The transfer market for Napoli is experiencing a temporary pause as the club prioritizes trimming its roster of 47 contracted players. Napoli's management has a clear strategy, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, to offload some players before seeking essential reinforcements. The primary focus is on acquiring a goalkeeper to partner with Alex Meret following Vanja Milinkovic-Savic's departure and a right-back to rotate with Giovanni Di Lorenzo. This approach has inevitably slowed certain negotiations already underway. Sporting Director Giovanni Manna had reached agreements with Anan Khalaili and Mario Gila, but delays in finalizing these deals have allowed Inter and Milan to step in assertively. Despite the need to decrease the number of players, Massimiliano Allegri is not rushing decisions. The coach plans to evaluate several players during the summer camp before making final decisions about their futures. Allegri sees quality in the current squad and believes it's crucial to assess players' motivation, physical condition, and attitude before approving any sales. A key situation involves Romelu Lukaku, who is regaining form at the World Cup after a challenging season marked by a severe injury and personal loss. Allegri previously showed interest in Lukaku during his Juventus tenure and is intrigued by a potential offensive pairing with Rasmus Højlund. However, confirmation will depend on Lukaku's condition during the training camp. Additionally, Frank Anguissa's situation remains unresolved. The Cameroonian midfielder, a standout in recent seasons for Napoli, has faced physical issues, and contract renewal talks have stalled. The club has exercised an option to extend his contract for another year, but Anguissa is considering a change of scenery. Allegri wants a direct discussion with him before any decisions are made. Concurrently, Napoli is working to find permanent transfers for many players returning from loans, with a focus on selling them outright. Players like Jens Cajuste, Jesper Lindstrøm, Walid Cheddira, Michael Folorunsho, Giuseppe Ambrosino, Coli Saco, Nosa Obaretin, and Alessio Zerbin are among those likely to leave without attending the summer retreat. Meanwhile, Allegri will closely evaluate Noa Lang, Lorenzo Lucca, Luca Marianucci, Rafa Marín, Rao, and Hasa before making final decisions.
