Nottingham Forest Appoint Oliver Glasner as Head Coach
Nottingham Forest has announced the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new head coach, following the unexpected dismissal of Vitor Pereira. The club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis, has expressed strong confidence in Glasner's ability to elevate the team's performance and compete for significant accolades within the Premier League. This decision comes after Pereira guided Forest to a 16th-place finish in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season. Pereira's tenure was marked by some stability, leading Forest away from relegation threats. However, Marinakis has shown a pattern of frequent managerial changes, having also dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche throughout the 2025-26 season. Glasner, who previously managed Crystal Palace, brings a wealth of success from his time at Selhurst Park, where he led Palace to their first major trophies, including the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and the Conference League. Glasner's appointment is somewhat surprising given the tensions between Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest last season. Palace was removed from the Europa League due to a breach of multi-club ownership rules, a situation influenced by Marinakis. Nonetheless, Marinakis is enthusiastic about Glasner's potential to transform Forest's prospects. In a statement, Marinakis highlighted Glasner's winning mentality and leadership qualities as key factors for his selection. During his time at Crystal Palace, Glasner achieved historic success by making Palace only the third English team to win a trophy in their inaugural major European competition season. Despite this, Palace's Premier League performance suffered, finishing 15th in the league. However, Glasner's experience and strategic acumen are expected to be pivotal as he takes on the challenge of leading Nottingham Forest. Glasner's first test as Forest's head coach will be a Premier League match against Leeds United on August 22. The fans will be eagerly watching to see how he implements his vision and style of play. A notable fixture will be his return to Selhurst Park to face his former club, Crystal Palace, in early October. With no European commitments for Forest in the upcoming season, Glasner can fully focus on domestic competitions and work towards establishing Forest as a formidable force in English football once again. --- ## Related Articles 1.
