Portugal's head coach Roberto Martinez expressed his satisfaction following his team's resounding 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their second Group K match at the 2026 World Cup. The match took place at the NRG Stadium in Houston, USA, under the officiation of Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed. Martinez highlighted the team's progress, stating, "This is the kind of reaction we saw in the locker room. There are moments when you need a game like the first one to progress in the tournament. Today, we saw a team with the same attitude and dedication but with greater maturity since it was not the first match. I am very pleased with the result," as quoted by FIFA's official site. Previously, in the first round, the Portuguese team faced the DR Congo, ending in a 1-1 draw.
