Lionel Messi aims for his second FIFA World Cup title and a third final appearance, while Cristiano Ronaldo seeks his first final. The two football icons could potentially face each other in the 2026 World Cup. As Group J winners, Argentina, led by Messi, are on track after defeating Algeria 3-0 in Kansas City and Austria 2-0 in Dallas. Their next match is against Jordan in Dallas on June 27. Meanwhile, Ronaldo's Portugal must win Group K, with a crucial match against Colombia in Miami on June 27. Portugal's earlier games included a 1-1 draw with DR Congo and a 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan, both in Houston. If both Argentina and Portugal advance, they could meet in the quarterfinals on July 11 in Kansas City. The only chance for a Messi vs Ronaldo final would be if Portugal finishes second in their group and both teams reach the final on July 19 in New York New Jersey Stadium. The 2026 World Cup, taking place from June 11 to July 19, will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, with all matches broadcasted on FOX and FS1.
