Former Atletico Madrid and Werder Bremen striker Rade Bogdanovic has publicly apologized for making racist comments towards black players during a live broadcast of the FIFA World Cup on Serbian television. Bogdanovic, who was serving as a commentator for RTS, made the controversial remarks while discussing Belgian defender Nathan Ngoy's red card during Belgium's goalless draw with Iran. The 56-year-old questioned the focus and stamina of black players, which sparked widespread condemnation on social media.

In his statement to Reuters, Bogdanovic expressed regret, saying, "I sincerely apologize for my statement regarding black football players." RTS, the state broadcaster, also issued an apology, clarifying that Bogdanovic is not a permanent employee but an "expert commentator" for the tournament. Their statement read, "We would like to take this opportunity to apologize, as a broadcaster, for the statement made in our programme concerning members of a particular race."
The incident occurred during a discussion of Ngoy's dismissal for a professional foul in the second half of the game held in Los Angeles. The remarks were challenged by the host, but Bogdanovic insisted on his viewpoint, claiming that "the majority lack concentration." Despite the controversy, Bogdanovic returned to the studio for Argentina's 2-0 win against Austria in Group J.
