Ruben Amorim Reflects on Manchester United Tenure
Ruben Amorim recently addressed Manchester United fans for the first time following his dismissal from the club. The Portuguese manager, who now leads AC Milan, expressed regret for not communicating with fans after his departure in January. During his time at Old Trafford, Amorim experienced a tumultuous 14-month tenure marked by challenges and criticism. During his stint as head coach, Amorim managed 63 matches across all competitions, achieving 24 wins, 18 draws, and 21 losses. However, his Premier League performance was notably challenging, securing only 15 victories in 47 games, which resulted in a 32% win ratio - the lowest for any United manager in Premier League history. His tenure also coincided with Manchester United's poorest-ever Premier League season in 2024-25, where they finished 15th, amassed a historically low points tally of 42, and scored only 44 goals throughout the season. Amorim remained silent on social media and refrained from public statements immediately following his sacking. However, upon his arrival at AC Milan and during his inaugural press conference, he took the opportunity to reflect on his experiences at United. "It is hard to explain the mistakes as I would have to explain all the context of the last adventure," he remarked. Amorim acknowledged the mistakes made during his tenure and expressed pride in having coached Manchester United. He shared his insights into the challenges he faced, emphasizing that his time at United was a significant learning experience. "The only thing I can say is that I learned a lot and I did some mistakes. I didn't have [the] opportunity – and I am sorry for that – to say something to the Manchester United fans at the moment, [but] I am really proud to have been their coach for a year," Amorim stated. Despite the difficulties, Amorim remains optimistic about his future in football management. He highlighted the importance of learning from past experiences to improve and acknowledged that while some aspects of his approach may change, others will remain consistent. Amorim's reflections underscore his commitment to evolving as a coach and his ambition to succeed in his new role at AC Milan. --- ## Related Articles 1.
