With only six days left until the 23rd edition of the World Cup kicks off, the tournament promises to be revolutionary. To enhance the entertainment value, especially important in the United States, measures have been taken to minimize time-wasting. Goal kicks and throw-ins will have a five-second limit; if exceeded, the possession will be reversed or a corner awarded to the opposition. Additionally, players receiving medical attention must leave the pitch for a minute, except goalkeepers or if the stoppage results from a yellow or red card offense.

There will also be an increased emphasis on VAR use in North America. Referees will receive guidance on decisions such as awarding goal kicks or corners, and technology will assist in reviewing fouls before play restarts. Furthermore, rule changes concerning disciplinary actions are being implemented. Referees can now consult video checks for second yellow cards to prevent unjust dismissals. Players covering their mouths while speaking to opponents or leaving the field in protest may face expulsion. These innovations aim to enhance fairness and maintain the integrity of the game.
