Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka is set to continue his career at the club, despite Chelsea's ongoing interest in the midfielder. The Swiss international, whose contract runs through 2028, was initially enticed by the opportunity to reunite with Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, whom he played under at Bayer Leverkusen. Last week, Chelsea's £8 million offer for Xhaka was turned down by Sunderland, and although there were expectations of an improved bid, Sunderland sources have made it clear that the 33-year-old is not available for transfer. Discussions between the club and Xhaka have led to him reaffirming his commitment to Sunderland. Meanwhile, Chelsea remains hopeful of acquiring Xhaka, with sources indicating that the former Arsenal player is still interested in a move to Stamford Bridge. However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will make another attempt to sign him.
