Inter Milan Parts Ways with Sommer and Acerbi

Inter Milan has officially parted ways with goalkeeper Yann Sommer and defender Francesco Acerbi as their contracts expire. Both players have contributed significantly to the club's successes over the years.
Inter Milan has confirmed its decision to part ways with senior squad members Yann Sommer and Francesco Acerbi, as their contracts have expired. In a heartfelt farewell, the club expressed gratitude to both players, stating: ‘Thank you for everything’. The 37-year-old goalkeeper, Sommer, joined Inter in the summer of 2023 and has been the club's no.1 for the past three seasons, registering 100 Serie A appearances and 139 across all competitions. Throughout his time with the club, the former Switzerland international secured two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana, and reached the Champions League final in 2024-25.

Francesco Acerbi, the 38-year-old center-back, has been with Inter for a year longer than Sommer, having joined in 2022. He made a total of 101 Serie A appearances and 148 across all competitions during his tenure. Acerbi’s accolades with Inter include two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia winners medals, two Supercoppa Italiana titles, and two runners-up medals from the Champions League in 2022-23 and 2024-25.
Inter expressed their appreciation in long statements reflecting on the contributions of both players, wishing them well in their future endeavors. Meanwhile, fellow teammates Stefan De Vrij and Matteo Darmian are also out of contract. Reports suggest that De Vrij is likely to join Panathinaikos in Athens, while Darmian may take on a backroom role or continue playing elsewhere in Serie A.
