Manchester City Rejects Arsenal's Loan Approach for Savinho
June 25, 2026 · Luis Romero
Arsenal's loan approach for Manchester City's Savinho has been rejected, with Tottenham showing continued interest in the player. City considers Savinho an important asset but may negotiate a sale for the right price.
Arsenal recently saw an inquiry regarding a potential loan deal for Savinho rejected by Manchester City, according to reports from Brazil. The uncertainty surrounding Savinho’s future at Manchester City has intensified this summer, especially following Tottenham Hotspur's sustained interest over multiple transfer windows. Spurs initially attempted to acquire the 22-year-old Brazilian international last summer, but their multi-million-pound proposal was rejected by key figures at Manchester City, led by CEO Ferran Soriano.
After a disrupted 2025/26 season under Pep Guardiola—where a thigh injury and competition from Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo limited his opportunities—Savinho is reportedly seeking an exit from the Etihad Stadium for more guaranteed playing time. Talks between City and Tottenham have recently resumed, with the player reportedly open to a new challenge in London under manager Roberto De Zerbi. Meanwhile, Sporting Director Hugo Viana is actively searching the market for replacements.

As per RTI Esporte, Tottenham has initiated preliminary discussions with Savinho’s representatives and the City Football Group. Spurs representatives have reportedly met with Manchester City officials to explore potential deals, while Arsenal has also expressed interest, only to see their loan inquiry promptly rejected. Manchester City views Savinho as an ‘important asset for the future’ but may consider a sale if the right offer comes in, having set a price around €50 million to reflect his projected growth and previous investments.
City’s summer transfer strategy focuses on acquiring wide players, with ongoing links to Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande—who is also attracting interest from Liverpool. Concurrently, Manchester City is prioritizing the completion of a British-record deal for midfielder Elliot Anderson, while Viana continues to lay the groundwork for a significant winger acquisition.
