Japan initially stunned Brazil by taking a surprising lead in the 29th minute, with Kasha Sano capitalizing on a midfield pass and skillfully navigating through the Brazilian defense before firing a shot past defender Gabriel Magalhaes and goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Despite Japan's lead, Brazil dominated possession and created more opportunities, recording eight shots to Japan's four in the first half. Brazil's relentless pressure paid off in the second half, with Vinícius Júnior coming close to scoring at the 58' mark, only to see his attempt deflected off the post by Suzuki.
