Saudi Arabia announces its World Cup 2026 squad, heavily featuring players from Al-Nassr, including standout Cristiano Ronaldo.
Saudi Arabia has unveiled its squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Al-Nassr, the club where Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays, is the primary contributor to the national team, providing seven players. This development underscores Al-Nassr's dominance in Saudi football. In contrast, Al-Hilal, another prominent Saudi club, contributes six players to the squad. Notably, Saud Abdulhamid is the only squad member playing abroad, as he is a defender for RC Lens in France.

Saudi Arabia, which famously defeated the eventual champions Argentina during the 2022 World Cup, aims to make a deeper run this time. However, the task will be challenging, as they are placed in Group H alongside Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde. With only eight players from the previous World Cup squad returning, head coach Georgios Donis is banking on fresh talent and the experience of players like Ronaldo to navigate the group stage and beyond.
