In a first for BBC Sport, the organization has launched its end-of-season football awards, recognizing the top performers in the Premier League, Women's Super League (WSL), Scottish Premiership, and the English Football League (EFL) for the 2025-26 season. The awards, determined by a panel of expert pundits and journalists, spotlighted players who made significant impacts on their teams. Arsenal's Declan Rice emerged as the star of the Premier League, leading his team to their first title since 2004 with his commanding midfield performances.
Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, who set a new assist record, was a close runner-up, while Brentford's Igor Thiago, with an impressive 22 goals, secured third place. In the WSL, Manchester City's Khadija Shaw was lauded for her remarkable scoring tally of 21 goals in 22 matches, driving her team to their first title in a decade. Andree Jeglertz was recognized as the WSL manager of the year.
