Canada's World Cup run ended with a 3-0 defeat to Morocco. Despite the scoreline, coach Jesse Marsch felt his team outperformed their opponents.
Canada's World Cup journey concluded with a 3-0 defeat to Morocco, although coach Jesse Marsch asserted that his team was the better side during the match. Facing Morocco in the knockout stage for the first time, Canada struggled to convert their superiority into goals at Houston Stadium. Azzedine Ounahi and Soufiane Rahimi scored for Morocco, with Canada unable to capitalize on their chances.

The first half was marked by more yellow cards than shots, a rarity in World Cup history. However, Morocco took the lead early in the second half through Ounahi, following a well-executed free-kick by Achraf Hakimi. Ounahi scored again later, and Rahimi sealed the victory in stoppage time. Despite Canada’s exit, Marsch praised his team's overall performance, highlighting their intensity and ability to challenge a top team. "We were the better team," Marsch stated. "They made a couple more plays than us, but we took a top team to the limit."
Canada's captain, Stephen Eustaquio, echoed Marsch's sentiments, emphasizing the team's strong first-half performance and the pride they brought to their fans. Despite the defeat, Canada's tournament included a historic win against South Africa and a second-place finish in their group, offering hope for the future as co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup.
