Mohamed Salah is confirmed to be available for Egypt's World Cup match against Australia, though his starting status remains uncertain due to a recent hamstring injury.

Mohamed Salah, Egypt's star forward, is set to be available for their World Cup round-of-32 match against Australia, taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Egypt's head coach, Hossam Hassan, confirmed Salah's participation on Thursday, following a week of managing a hamstring strain. Salah was substituted during Egypt's recent 1-1 draw with Iran, and scans revealed a hamstring strain, prompting immediate treatment.

Salah resumed partial practice on Wednesday after undergoing physiotherapy and a medical evaluation. While Hassan confirmed Salah's readiness, he refrained from specifying whether Salah would start the match or come on as a substitute. "Salah is eager to contribute, but we won't take any risks unless he's fully prepared," Hassan stated.

Salah has been instrumental in Egypt's progress, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the group stage, which saw Egypt advance to the knockouts for the first time in history. Hassan praised Salah's contributions, calling him a key player both technically and tactically.

Egypt will miss left-back Ahmed Fattouh due to a hamstring injury, while center-back Mohamed Abdelmonem is recovering from an ankle injury but may play. Australia, finishing second in Group D, will face Egypt in this crucial knockout match, set for noon kickoff on Friday.
