June 11, 2026 · Lucía Jiménez
Celtic is pursuing Benjamin Tahirovic while Rangers are interested in Bryan Reynolds as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Celtic have initiated discussions with Brondby regarding the potential transfer of 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic. Meanwhile, Rangers have expressed a strong interest in acquiring right-back Bryan Reynolds. Westerlo, Reynolds' current club, is open to a transfer since his contract is set to expire next year, hoping to capitalize on his sale. Reynolds, who did not make the United States World Cup squad, is a key target for Rangers as they seek to fill the void left by James Tavernier.
In addition, Swansea City is closing in on a deal for Celtic center-back Stephen Welsh, who is nearing the end of his contract after a loan spell at Motherwell. The Welsh international is expected to sign a two-year deal with an option for a further year with the Championship club. Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is also attracting attention from Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Sunderland, indicating a busy transfer window for the Scottish club.

Celtic's former player Jackie McNamara has highlighted the potential for transfer interest in Canada right-back Alistair Johnston, while praising manager Martin O'Neill for achieving a domestic double last season amid injuries. O'Neill, recently spotted at Glasgow Airport, is anticipated to continue as Celtic's manager.
Additionally, Hull City and Middlesbrough are considering a move for Sunderland's Dan Neil, who has been in discussions with Rangers. Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are eyeing Rangers' goalkeeper Jack Butland as a potential backup option, though Rangers have no intention of selling the 33-year-old.
Lastly, Leicester City is reportedly in talks with Russell Martin, former head coach of Southampton and Rangers, to take over as manager following their relegation to League One.
