In preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari presented the national team with stones reputed to offer beneficial properties, hoping to bring them luck and calm.
French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari made an unusual gesture by gifting the French national team stones believed to have beneficial properties. This took place during a visit to Clairefontaine last week, alongside President Emmanuel Macron. The stones, thought to bring luck and serenity, were distributed in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The presentation occurred in an institutional setting after an official meeting with staff and representatives from the French Football Federation.

During a lunch with Les Bleus, Minister Ferrari spoke following FFF President Philippe Diallo, Head Coach Didier Deschamps, and President Macron, to explain the meaning behind her gift. She shared that over twenty years ago, during her first election campaign, a supporter gave her a protective stone that she still carries today. Inspired by this, she gifted the players two stones: a blue jasper for energy and goal achievement, and a rock crystal to reduce stress, boost self-confidence, and alleviate physical tensions.
Ferrari concluded her remarks by making a symbolic reference to the national team's colors, "Blue and white like your jersey," encouraging players to keep the stones as good luck charms, possibly even in their socks during the tournament. Whether the players will adopt this suggestion remains to be seen.
