Florentino Perez’s €150m Signing Focuses on Two PSG Stars
June 5, 2026 · Sergio Paredes
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez plans to bid €150m for a superstar player if re-elected, with Joao Neves and Vitinha as leading candidates.
On Thursday, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez announced his intention to bid €150 million for a superstar player if he is re-elected on Sunday. The 79-year-old is facing Enrique Riquelme in this weekend's vote and remains the overwhelming favorite to maintain the position he has held since 2009. As part of his campaign, Perez is keen to underscore his commitment to significant transfer moves.
Perez has already confirmed the return of Jose Mourinho as manager, alongside the potential arrivals of Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries should his candidacy succeed. However, he aims to further enhance the squad with the signing of a Galactico, a move the club has notably avoided in recent years. Although Perez did not specify the player he intends to bid on, he did mention that the target is from a "Champions League club."

He has eliminated several high-profile names, including Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Jeremy Doku, narrowing the field considerably given the outlined budget. According to El Partidazo de COPE, two leading candidates have emerged: Joao Neves and Vitinha. The latter has been frequently linked to Real Madrid in recent months, while Neves has garnered significant attention for his rising stardom at Paris Saint-Germain.
Notably, Perez clarified that the desired signing is a "young player," which may indicate a preference for Neves, who is just 21 years old, compared to Vitinha, who is 26. Still, it remains possible that Olise could be considered, despite public denials, as Diario AS reports he is among the potential candidates. The identity of the player remains to be seen, but first, Perez must focus on securing his re-election before pursuing his latest Galactico project.
