Harry Kane has etched his name alongside Gary Lineker in England's football history by equaling his World Cup goal-scoring record. On Wednesday, Kane netted twice against Croatia in a 4-2 victory, drawing level with Lineker's ten goals in World Cup finals, a record that has stood since Lineker's performances in 1986 and 1990. Lineker, once the top English scorer in World Cups, praised Kane on the podcast "The Rest is Football," asserting that Kane's all-round ability makes him the best English striker ever. Despite England's history of producing forwards like Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, and Alan Shearer, Kane's achievements set him apart. Currently playing for Bayern Munich and England, Kane has scored 69 goals in 59 matches this season, surpassing even Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. With two goals against Croatia, Kane remains a strong contender for the World Cup's top scorer title, which he previously won in 2018. Lineker expressed satisfaction that Kane has matched his record, humorously noting Kane had an extra World Cup to do it.
