Robert Lewandowski has joined the Chicago Fire in MLS, signing a contract until the end of the 2027-28 season after leaving Barcelona.
Robert Lewandowski has officially signed with the Chicago Fire, joining fellow superstars Thomas Muller and Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer (MLS). The Polish striker departed Barcelona following the expiration of his contract at the end of the 2025-26 season. Despite not participating in the World Cup due to Poland's failure to qualify, Lewandowski is set to make his mark in North America. He has agreed to a contract that will keep him with the Fire until the conclusion of the 2027-28 MLS season.
Gregg Berhalter, the Chicago Fire's director of football and head coach, expressed his excitement about Lewandowski's arrival, stating: "From the day Joe Mansueto and I met for the first time, we set out to build a world-class club that inspires greatness, unites Chicago, and wins championships. Robert embodies those values and represents the standards this city deserves: a champion and a competitor. His arrival reinforces our ambition to compete for trophies and raises the standards for the club to heights worthy of this city. We cannot wait to get to work with him and have Chicago see first-hand why he is among the most revered sporting icons in the world."

Lewandowski boasts an impressive record of 629 goals in 869 club appearances. The 37-year-old scored 120 times in 193 matches for Barcelona after transferring from Bayern Munich in 2022. He notably holds the record for the most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season, netting 41 goals in 29 appearances during the 2020-21 campaign for Bayern.
Muller, Lewandowski's former Bayern teammate, joined the Vancouver Whitecaps last year, while Messi has been making waves for Inter Miami since 2023. The Chicago Fire's first match after the World Cup break will be against the Whitecaps, although it remains uncertain if Lewandowski will be fit to compete against his former strike partner Muller.
