Notts County has announced that defender Rod McDonald will remain with the club for another season, having signed a new one-year contract. This extension comes after the team's successful promotion to League One, where McDonald played a pivotal role in their achievements. Last season, he made 26 appearances for the Magpies and was instrumental during the League Two play-off final at Wembley, where Notts County triumphed 3-0 against Salford City. McDonald, who provided the assist for Lucas Ness's goal in that match, also marked his 50th club appearance as captain. His leadership was key in securing the club’s promotion, having joined from Harrogate Town in the summer of 2024. While McDonald has committed to the club, his teammate Lewis Macari has yet to finalize his contract terms with Notts County.
