Real Madrid has announced the signing of Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool, marking him as their third signing of the summer after Cucurella and Silva.

Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Ibrahima Konate, following his departure from Liverpool. This marks their third acquisition of the summer transfer window, adding to the signings of Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva. Konate, previously an unused substitute in France's 3-1 victory over Senegal at the World Cup, left Liverpool as a free agent after the 2025-26 season. Having joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, he played a key role in their Premier League triumph under Arne Slot and collected two EFL Cups and an FA Cup under Jurgen Klopp. Notably, he partnered with Virgil van Dijk in the 2022 Champions League final, where Liverpool narrowly lost to Madrid. The 27-year-old French defender has been linked with a move to Los Blancos for months and will reunite with former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold at the Santiago Bernabeu. Konate has signed a four-year contract with Real Madrid and will join officially at the end of the month. Real Madrid also confirmed Cucurella's transfer from Chelsea for €60 million and Silva's as a free agent, as they prepare for a new era under Jose Mourinho. Konate leaves Liverpool with 183 appearances, a record for French-born players at the club, with 154 of those matches alongside van Dijk, forming a strong defensive duo.
