Tyler Adams Unfazed by Yellow Card Ahead of USA vs. Australia
June 19, 2026 · Marcelo Castro
Tyler Adams expresses confidence in maintaining his physical style of play despite being on a yellow card as the U.S. prepares for a crucial World Cup match against Australia.

The United States is gearing up for a pivotal World Cup group match against Australia, set to take place at Seattle Stadium on Friday. The match is anticipated to be intense, with tensions already high due to past encounters and media comments. Despite having received a yellow card in the U.S.'s opening 4-1 victory over Paraguay, Tyler Adams remains resolute about not altering his aggressive playing style. Adams, speaking on "First Things First," emphasized, "Anyone that knows me knows my style of play doesn’t change. For me, it’s going to be a combative game." The upcoming match is crucial as another yellow card would result in a suspension for the following game against Türkiye, perceived as a challenging opponent. Adams has never been sent off at club or international levels, but he is cautious about avoiding a red card scenario. "It really impacts it because tactically, to leave your team at a disadvantage... it becomes a lot more difficult," Adams noted, stressing the importance of staying on the field. The match kicks off at 10 p.m. ET, available on FOX, FOX One, and the FOX Sports app.
