Newcastle has officially signed young French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims, securing one of Europe's emerging talents. The 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the English club. Jaouen arrives in the Premier League after a standout season in Ligue 2, where he made 34 appearances and kept a clean sheet in 15 matches, showcasing his abilities and attracting interest from several European clubs. The goalkeeper has also gained experience with the French youth national teams, having represented the Under-21s. He began his professional career at Guingamp before transferring to Reims in the summer of 2023. From there, he was loaned to Rodez in the second half of the 2023/24 season, followed by another loan spell at Dunkerque in 2024/25, where he contributed to the club's historic run to the Coupe de France semifinals, which they ultimately lost to Paris Saint-Germain. Excited for this new adventure, Jaouen stated, "I am really happy to become a Newcastle player. When I visited the training center, I immediately felt the passion surrounding the club and the work environment. I saw the stadium, and it is impressive." The goalkeeper added, "I have heard a lot about the fans and their incredible passion. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere at St James’ Park and become a true Geordie. As a goalkeeper, I enjoy facing one-on-one situations and participating in building from the back.",
