Staveley and Ghodoussi Consider West Ham Takeover

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, former Newcastle United co-owners, explore a West Ham United acquisition post-Newcastle exit.
Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, who previously co-owned Newcastle United, are reportedly considering a takeover bid for West Ham United. These investors are weighing a return to football club ownership following their departure from Newcastle. Their investment firm, PCP Capital Partners, has initiated discussions regarding a potential acquisition of West Ham, especially in light of the club's recent relegation from the Premier League.
Since their exit from Newcastle, Staveley and Ghodoussi have been evaluating multiple opportunities within English football, with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur also being considered. However, West Ham has surfaced as a prime candidate due to its potential for long-term growth. Earlier this week, Staveley expressed her interest in revitalizing clubs with untapped potential, hinting at the type of projects she and her husband are drawn to.

Staveley and Ghodoussi were instrumental in facilitating Newcastle's takeover in 2021, which was backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and the Reuben brothers. This acquisition marked a significant turnaround for the club, leading to Champions League qualification and a domestic trophy win. Notably, the Reuben brothers are not involved in the current discussions about West Ham.
West Ham's ownership is currently divided among majority shareholder David Sullivan, Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, and the Gold Family Trust. Sullivan has recently stepped down from his roles amidst personal controversies. Although no deal is imminent, Staveley and Ghodoussi's interest in West Ham represents a potentially major shift in English football's ownership landscape, especially as the club seeks new leadership following its relegation.
