Nick Woltemade expresses dissatisfaction with his debut season at Newcastle United but remains optimistic about future performance.
Nick Woltemade has openly discussed his mixed feelings regarding his debut season at Newcastle United. Despite a promising start, Woltemade found it challenging to maintain his early momentum but remains optimistic about his future at the club.
The German forward transferred from Stuttgart to Newcastle for a reported fee of £65 million (€75 million), marking a significant investment by the club. Initially, Woltemade made a strong impression by becoming the fifth player to score four or more goals in his first five Premier League appearances for Newcastle, joining the likes of Les Ferdinand and Callum Wilson. However, his season concluded with 11 goals and four assists in 51 matches across all competitions, primarily due to being played out of his favored striker position.

Woltemade acknowledged the difficulties posed by his positional changes, stating, "I'm expected to score or provide an assist in every game. But if I'm not playing in attack, it's much more difficult for me to get into dangerous scoring positions." Despite the challenges, the 24-year-old remains committed to improving his game.
Looking ahead, Woltemade is part of Germany's squad for the upcoming World Cup. His performances during the qualifiers were notable, with four goals and one assist, reinforcing his potential impact. He believes that a strong showing at the World Cup could be a catalyst for a successful second season at Newcastle United.
"I've learned a lot this season," Woltemade shared. "I've improved athletically and can keep up with the pace. Overall, it's been a step forward. That's why I have no doubts about Newcastle. I'll make my mark there."
